East Ridge Middle School (ERMS) believes that education is a three-fold partnership in which parents, students, and faculty share in the responsibility for student education and character building for future success.
In 2004, the East Ridge Middle School administration inquired about funding for a Bible history program. Principal Steve Robinson not only understands the academic benefits of Bible history electives, but was once a Bible history teacher in Chattanooga.
A three-year, $25,000 matching challenge grant was received as seed money and Bible history was introduced for the 2006-07 school year. Enrollment surpassed expectations with 71% of the middle school students electing the offered courses.
Though initial gifts were received to begin the ERMS program, substantial new designated gifts are needed to sustain Bible history electives.
